Women Entrepreneurs in the Middle East and North Africa : Characteristics, Contributions and Challenges (English & Arabic)

The study contains the outcome of a quantitative field study conducted in field study conducted in five Arab countries : Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Tunisia and lebanon and covered 1228 women entrepreneurs. The study addressed the characteristics of women entrepreneurs, their businesses and the contribution of these institutions to economic growth and job creation, as well as the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in developing and managing their enterprises. It also included initial recommendation for both the public and private sectors on supporting women entrepreneurs. The study was published with the support of the International Financial Corporation (IFC), in cooperation with study centers, organizations of women entrepreneurs and members of the @nged network in the five countries.
