                                            Abstract
The basic idea underlying this book, exploring the dimensions of women’s equal citizenship to take stock of progress made toward gender equality, grew out of an interdisciplinary conference, “Dimensions of Women’s Equal Citizenship,” held at Hofstra University School of Law on November 3 and 4, 2006. This conference began a long and fruitful conversation with this volume’s contributors, many of whom presented early versions of this book’s chapters at that conference..
